Ahmad, You are incredibly a huge success to this Nation and the world at large will encounter soon. I have been following your updates quietly though may not understand them all cos I’m not much into IT… It amazes me the giant IT stuff you execute while an undergraduate.

May the good Lord guide, bless and keep you. Please do your best to bring up as many Youths as you can as their role model. Nigeria needs young people like you; focused, too busy and fruitful.

The stupid thing I kept on trying to do, was to be like every successful person I see on screen, read in a book or just heard about. I got my self troubling my mind every day, trying be a successful person that people will talk about, I didn’t care what is it that I will be, all I wanted is to BE SUCESSFUL!

Recently I began  to realize that in my quest to be successful, I was only trying to be like everybody, only to end up as Nobody! The fact is, I can never be everybody. God made us with differences in specialties, abilities, and even personal interests.

Take for instance, if I woke up today with a strong interest in becoming an artist in the future, I’d begin to learn how to draw. It will start to be fun with the passion I’d build for it. Suddenly, I switch on the TV only to see Angeline Joli in a session of TV review; then my whole plan changes and all I want to be, is a Movie Star.

But, even with the deepest analyses the two words “Me” and “You” are not the same and will never be, both in length, collection of characters, pronunciation and in fact even their meanings.

Mathematically:

ME != YOU

(ME is not equal to YOU)

So, why on earth do I want to be like you when i am me. Your life, your thoughts, your interest, your passion, your courage and even your ideas are entirely different from mine and should not interest me just because you are success with them. It’s always said “no two people are the same”.

If only I focus on my own thoughts, my true passion and ideas, What will I be?

Simply, I will be me and I will be successful! Because, all those people I see that interest me actually followed their own passions, their own minds and thoughts. They tried to be them and nobody else, that was why they succeeded.

“ Follow everyone else and you’d end up in a crowd! Can’t be seeing, can’t be identified, in fact you’re lost.

Follow your own way, you’d stand a side only to be seen, identified and fully found. “

So, now I am focusing not to be you but to be me! I have my own dreams, my own way of thinking, I am the captain of my own life. You may try to be like me if you want to, but I am no longer trying to be like you. I have my own path!

“ If you keep trying to be like someone else, the best you can ever be is second best. “

I set my new goals, my plans and the road I want to drive my life on (i define my path). I might not be you, but surely I will be ME. You could do the same, build your own path and follow it.

Life is all about choices, we’d make our selves whom we want to be.

Emmanuel Jal was born in southern Sudan, and while he doesn’t know exactly when, he believes it was in the early 1980s. He was taken from his family in 1987 when he was about seven 6years old, and sent to fight with the rebel army in Sudan’s bloody civil war. For nearly five years, he was a “child warrior,” put into battle carrying an AK-47 that was taller than he was.

Emmanuel’s father joined the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) where his mother was killed when he was about 7years old by the government’s soldiers.

He then decided to join the thousands of children traveling to Ethiopia who had been told that they could be educated there. However, many of the children, Emmanuel included, were recruited by the SPLA and taken to military training camps in the bush in Ethiopia.

The camp was disguised as a school in front of international aid agencies and UN representatives, but behind closed doors the children were training to fight.

When the fighting became unbearable, Emmanuel and some other children decided to run away. They were on the move for three months, with many dying on the way, until they reached the town of WAAT, which was the headquarter of a small group that had separated themselves from the main SPLA.

After a series of harrowing events, he was rescued by a British aid worker (Emma McCune) who smuggled him into Nairobi to raise him as her own child.

She died in a road accident a few months later, but her friends helped Emmanuel to continue his studies. To help ease the pain of all that he had experienced. Emmanuel started singing and music became his weapon of choice.

His music has since taken him around the world, performing at events like Madiba’s 46664 concert and Live8, alongside artists like Alicia Keys, Annie Lennox, Damien Marley, Razorlight, Supergrass, amongst many others.

He’s life was a teaching to all.

I don’t even know where I belong!

The national TV operator (NTA) showed the out comes of their research titled “Who Is An Average Nigerian” based on individual earning capacity and the ability to sustain life.

Though Nigeria looks like a wealthy and rich country, an average Nigerian was defined on NTA News Extra as a person who:

1. CANNOT afford 3 square meals daily for his family.
2. CANNOT afford or even have no shelter.
3. CAN ONLY send his children public schools where there is no school fees.
4. CANNOT afford to pay for his family’s health.

I was emotionally touched when I saw the interviews NTA had with these average citizens. Most of them have very intense and less paying jobs like hawking, hard labor and more!

The worst thing is that, these average citizens account for ¾ (75%) of the total population of Nigeria. Thus, I should say our country is really in a critical condition!

Based on my deductions and physical assumptions; it means that only ¼ (25%) of Nigerians can be rated as ABOVE AVERAGE. If that is the case, then who is the rich?

Considering this research, I think we really need to change the way we do things and work towards the development of the this great nation. But, wait a minute. Where do you think you belong? Are you average or RICH?

Have you ever had a brainstorm of ideas in your head which you could only watch as they die in the prison yard of your mind during their early metamorphosis period, just because you could not take action to implement them?

Back in late 2006, I began to realise I had a lot of ideas and information stored in my head which could gain me sequential cash flow and public awareness although I could not put them into action because I was only dreaming of putting all plans working in perfect order, immediately.

I thought it was better to keep my ideas hidden in my mind instead of starting something that might fail afterwards. So, little by little, my ideas where growing until when I was holding back dozen of ideas waiting for the moment when I will find exactly the right way to put them into a perfect shape.

Hmm, you may not believe it; but those ideas never become perfect!

Early 2007, I decided to test my skills in the internet marketing world on a part time basis after coming across the sentence; “You don’t have to get it right, you just have to get it going.” made by Mike Litman, a very popular motivational speaker. This small quote gave me all the necessary physical power to over come the starting point of implementing my never ending ideas.

So, one thing I would like to emphasize on is “just go start out something”. No matter how imperfect it may be, you will always find room for improvement! That is how most successfully models achieve that huge success you see.

All you need is to snap out of the never ending mental inertia. Start something, move slowly by taking baby steps at a time, and then increase your speed until you attain those dreams. One you’ve started, you will find the journey towards attaining your ultimate goal very smooth and enjoyable.

Finally, I will recommend that you try and remember Mike’s statement; “You don’t have to get it right, you just have to get it going”. Kuddoz!
